Måløy Maritme Group got a tour on Cape Arkona, a vessel being build at Baatbygg for Austral Fisheries. At Baatbygg, around 100 workers are building the vessel which is set to be done mid May. On this project, four of Måløy Maritime Group members, including Baatbygg, are involved in the process; Skipskompetanse with design and complete package of calculations, class drawings and workshop drawings, Ocean Electronics delivering all the electronics and Isovent installing the ventilation and insulation. 

tThe vessel can alternate between long lining, trawling and fishing with traps – a combination that has not been implemented before, as far as we know. Austral Fisheries is one of Australia’s largest integrated commercial fishing companies with interests in both deep sea fishing and at sea prawning. The ship has been designed with focus on minimal environmental impact. The vessel can alternate between all three types of fishing on one single trip without having to reconfigure.
